Suction brushes and floor nozzles for wet and dry extractors
The right vacuum cleaner brush decides how much of the extraction performance actually reaches the surface. Start with the hose fitting, since connections here run 32, 35, 36, 40 and 50 mm and a head that is close but not exact leaks air and loses suction at the mouth. Then match the head to the debris: a soft bristle brush lifts dust from mouldings, cabinets and machine housings without scratching, while a wide floor nozzle of 300 to 450 mm clears swarf, sawdust and site rubble in fewer passes.
Rubber-lipped heads seal against hard floors and pull the fine dust that bristles skim over, so many workshops keep both and swap in seconds. Bristle wear is the part most people ignore: once the tufts splay, the head rides high and the airflow bypasses the surface. Suction that drops off across the whole machine is usually not the head at all, so check the dust bag and the filter before replacing something that is still serviceable.
